Edward is the managing director of Corbett & Co. He is acknowledged as one of the world’s most experienced international construction lawyers with an unsurpassed reputation as a FIDIC expert. His expertise is recognised with his ranking in Chambers UK 2020 – Construction: International Arbitration UK-wide and he is recommended within Legal 500 UK 2020 Construction (Contentious).
Edward was named Global Elite Thought Leader by Who’s Who Legal 2019 and described as “a heavyweight in the international construction field and the top name in Europe according to our research this year. Sources say he is “the star player in the UK market”, with “knowledge that is next to none”.”
After reading law at Oxford University, he qualified as a barrister and practised for a short while before joining Masons in 1984. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1988.
He has an MSc in Construction Law and Arbitration from King’s College and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has conducted advocacy both in arbitration and DAB proceedings. He also has experience as an arbitrator and adjudicator on both UK and international disputes. He is an accredited mediator. He is on FIDIC’s lists of mediators and adjudicators and is trained as a TeCSA adjudicator. He has experience in all forms of construction contract.
Edward is the author of FIDIC 4th – A Practical Legal Guide and many articles and papers dealing with aspects of international construction contracts. He is also on the Editorial Board of Construction Law International (CLInt). He has lectured extensively on construction law and in particular on FIDIC’s standard forms of contract.
Edward is acknowledged worldwide as one of the leading FIDIC experts and regularly presents master classes in FIDIC Contracts in partnership with Cornerstone Seminars.
